Shadow Play
by Colleen Wise

Create the illusion of depth on your quilt! In this class, you will learn to develop objects that appear to float on the surface of your quilt.

“Discharging” is the process of removing dye from fabric. We will learn to control this process to create a piece with a very three-dimensional look. We’ll create the perfect background to make leaves or other objects “float” above the surface of your quilt. It’s okay if you haven’t learned to dye—this is a different process altogether.

You will create your own unique piece during the 3-day workshop. We will learn to discharge and create our backgrounds on the first day. We’ll add our leaves or other foregrounds on day two. Day three will bring it all together with sashes, borders, or your own settings.

Try something unique and fun!
